Sr. Business Controller
What will you do?
Bnode (36k employees in 15 countries/4 continents, €4.3bn turnover) is a fast-growing international logistics and 3PL player with operations across Europe. To support our expansion, we are looking for a Senior Business Controller to drive financial performance across multiple sites in Germany and contribute at European level.
Your role
You act as the financial co-pilot of the business, partnering closely with site leaders and central finance. This is a hands-on role combining analysis, business insight, and operational impact in a matrix structure (reporting to CFO Central Europe with a dotted line to site leadership).
Key responsibilities
- Partner with site leaders to drive financial performance and decision-making
- Deliver monthly closing follow-up, flash reporting and variance analysis
- Track and analyse KPIs at site and client level
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
- Monitor CAPEX and investment performance
- Ensure cost control and ownership of the PO process
- Perform balance sheet reviews with accounting
- Build and challenge business cases and pricing assumptions
- Analyse client profitability and recommend actions
- Improve reporting, tools and processes (e.g. Power BI)
Who are you?
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration or similar
- 5–10 years’ experience in controlling, ideally in logistics, industrial, manufacturing or multi-site environments
- Strong experience as a business partner to operations, influencing decision-making at site or regional level
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
- Experience with investment controlling, CAPEX and project-based financial management
- Solid understanding of financial statements, accounting principles and closing cycles
- Experience working in an international or matrix organisation
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operational environment with multiple stakeholders
Skills
- Advanced Excel and strong affinity with data and reporting tools (Power BI, SAP or similar)
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to go into detail while maintaining a strategic view
- Able to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge constructively
- Structured and reliable, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proactive, hands-on and solution-oriented mindset
- Able to work independently while building strong cross-functional relationships
- Fluent German and English (written and spoken) is a requirement
