What will you do?
Analyse and define, from a functional and/or technical standpoint, the complex problems and needs of users, conduct feasibility studies and translate issues into concrete functional specifications to optimally meet customer needs. Possess a transversal view of the various processes within the Business Unit.
• Identify and collect (within the context of a project) the requirements of the Business, the needs of users, stakeholders and management. Define SMART objectives for the product or service to be delivered at the end of the project. This includes the following tasks:
- identify all parties involved in the planned project (customers, users, stakeholders…) and collect their requirements
- elaborate, research, understand, clarify and then communicate all needs of the concerned parties
- organise and lead the information-gathering process (interviews, group sessions, studies, feedback on the existing system…)
- provide the necessary input for cost estimation
- ensure that the involved parties share a common vision regarding the purpose of the product.
• Gather stakeholder needs, analyse them and ensure they are clear, complete, unambiguous and feasible. Model requirements, set priorities and place needs in context (process impact, risks…). Provide framework and support to Business Analysts in more complex projects. Coordinate and support the analysis performed by Business Analysts. This includes:
- define user needs for different application areas, to develop and model applications and refine project plans
- organise meetings with end users to listen to their questions and discuss them
- define the priority of requirements
- provide initial estimates of workload and timing
- conduct a feasibility study for each requirement
- give final approval of the functional and operational specifications.
• Break down impacted processes into subcomponents. Formalise the needs for the product or service to be delivered at the end of the project in a resources document (Business Requirements Document). Detail each business requirement by clarifying the components of the analysis. This includes:
- determine the origin of the requirement
- determine the complexity of implementation
- determine expected performance
- determine assigned priority level
- determine urgency level
- determine stability level.
• Communicate analysis results in a format adapted to each person or group involved. Help reach consensus regarding the objectives of the development projects to be implemented. This includes:
- manage requirements and ensure they meet the Business objectives
- determine which requirements can be reused (long-term)
- manage the scope of the solution and requirements
- manage requirement traceability
- manage requirements based on reusability potential
- prepare requirement bundling
- communicate requirements.
• Ensure the developed solution meets defined requirements. Simplify and support the implementation of the solution. Support the development team in detailing design work, including breaking work down into phases, reviewing detailed design and defining deliverables. This includes:
- provide the latest updates to the project leader during the project
- identify and document transition requirements and support the project manager
- answer user questions
- ensure a bridge between ICT and the Business
- ensure testing is carried out methodically: develop test scenarios, organise testing with the Business, evaluate end-to-end test results
- define transition requirements
- evaluate solution performance
- document the solution
- organise training for users when necessary.
• Actively search for the latest technical developments in the domain to make the best possible use of continuous technological improvements. This includes:
- acquire strong knowledge of the market and the ICT environment
- follow the evolution of analysis and programming techniques
- follow the evolution of the relevant business environment
- transfer knowledge to colleagues.
• Formulate recommendations and proposals in consultation with management and/or other relevant services to enable management to take decisions regarding the adaptation and optimisation of certain systems, processes and procedures. Identify recurring issues and propose solutions to optimise business needs analysis in the domain. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Bpost guidelines.
