Sustainability Procurement Lead
What will you do?
Objective
This role drives procurement‑led sustainability impact by translating Bnode’s ESG ambitions and regulatory requirements into measurable Scope 3 decarbonization and responsible supplier practices across the group (Bpost, Paxon, Landmark Global)
This role steers concrete procurement actions, fostering procurement-wide adoption, ensuring measurable impact and value creation through sourcing, supplier management and contracting levers.
Main tasks
a. Strategy & Program Ownership
- Own and continuously refine the global sustainable procurement roadmap (2025–2030), aligned with the corporate ESG strategy and the evolving procurement operating model.
- Act as procurement’s single point of coordination for sustainability topics, ensuring external ESG and regulatory requirements (CSRD, CSDDD, EUDR, PPWR, SBTi) are effectively translated into practical, scalable and business‑relevant procurement policies, processes, tools and technologies, in close collaboration with Group and local ESG teams.
- Act as the global policy owner of the Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoC), ensuring consistent governance, implementation and continuous improvement across Bnode.
b. Decarbonisation – Scope 3
- Lead and steer procurement’s contribution to Scope 3 decarbonisation, with a strong performance‑management mindset focused on year‑on‑year emission reduction outcomes.
- Design and coordinate supplier engagement programs (e.g. CO₂ Coach trajectory) and define supplier prioritisation based on spend, ESG risk and carbon intensity, ensuring efforts are focused where impact is highest.
- Support the integration of emission‑reduction criteria into sourcing events, awarding methodologies and contract management. Drive continuous improvement of data quality, coverage and relevance, including supplier‑specific emission factors, SBTi alignment, KPIs and dashboards.
c. Supply Chain Due Diligence & ESG Compliance
- Ensure the group‑wide implementation of the Supplier Code of Conduct across RFPs, contracts, purchase orders and renewals, and define clear supplier self‑assessment, validation and sign‑off processes.
- Govern sustainability assessment frameworks and tools (e.g. EcoVadis or equivalent, SBTi), ensuring appropriate scope, cadence and effective use of results for risk mitigation and supplier improvement.
- Prepare and support procurement teams in addressing due‑diligence and regulatory requirements (including CSDDD, EUDR and PPWR), translating obligations into actionable procurement guidance and practices.
d. Tools, Data & Reporting
- Coordinate sustainable procurement tools and data flows in close collaboration with IT, Finance and ESG teams, and actively scan the market for fit‑for‑purpose solutions that support procurement sustainability objectives.
- Own and monitor agreed ESG KPIs and provide structured reporting inputs for internal steering, supplier performance management, ESG ratings and external disclosures, including the annual report.
- In charge of maintaining and upgrading over time the Scope 3 calculation methodology, as well as the results.
- Design, own and continuously improve dashboards that support transparency, decision‑making and performance tracking.
e. Change, Capability & Network
- Build sustainable procurement capabilities through training, guidance and best‑practice sharing, and facilitate dedicated sustainable procurement training and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Work closely with category teams and buyers, positioning as a trusted partner in sourcing cycles and tender calendars, providing hands‑on support where sustainability impact can be maximized.
- Act as a procurement sustainability ambassador, representing procurement internally and externally, and driving awareness, engagement and adoption through strong influencing and communication skills.
f. Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage multiple transversal projects with high complexity, visibility and cross‑functional dependencies.
- Steer senior stakeholders across procurement, ESG, finance, IT and the business without hierarchical authority, aligning interests and driving execution.
- Regularly report progress, risks and value creation to senior management and relevant governance bodies, ensuring transparency and informed decision‑making.
Who are you?
- You hold a Master’s degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, Finance or equivalent experience
- Additional certifications in ESG, sustainability, procurement or project management are a plus (e.g. SBTi, CSRD, EcoVadis)
- 8+ years of experience combining Procurement (category management, sourcing, supplier management), and Sustainability / ESG roles
- Strong expertise in sustainable sourcing, Scope 3 and supplier ESG management
- You bring deep expertise in procurement, ESG frameworks, Scope 3 decarbonisation, supplier engagement and project management, combined with a good knowledge of supplier performance management, ESG data and reporting, and change management principles.
- Experience working in complex, international and matrix environments
- Experience in logistics environment is not required but it is a plus
- Proven ability to drive transversal transformation programs
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior level
- Data-driven mindset with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach
- Fluent in English, good working knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
