Costing Project Manager
What will you do?
Bpost operates in a complex market environment, with a regulated mail business and a highly competitive parcels business. A deep understanding of our cost structure is crucial to support pricing, strategic and regulatory files and drive overall profitability for Bpost. In this context, we are looking for a Costing Project Manager.
Your
mission
As member
of the costing department, your mission is twofold:
- You will be responsible for the cost modelling of Bpost NV/SA’s Sorting operations and of the HQ teams. This includes responsibilities in the context of the activity based costing model, as well as participation in accounting processes by actualizing product costs and internal invoicing.
- You will represent the costing department in multidisciplinary projects. These projects will typically require you to combine deep cost analysis with a strategic perspective. You will work in close cooperation with Strategy, Pricing, Legal & Regulatory as well as with Operations and have exposure to Bpost’s executive management.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of the Bpost operational processes and associated costs in order to update and improve the activity based costing model. This requires frequent interactions with counterparts in finance and within the business units (e.g. operations, performance management) to stay up to date with the ongoing evolutions.
- Provide input and collaborate in ad hoc studies and projects, including business cases for new products and services, evaluation of strategic initiatives, etc.
- Play a key
role in supporting strategic decisions of the company by providing insightful
analyses on the company’s cost and profit drivers. You will, over time, master
the economics and the business model of Bpost’s various services (mail, parcel
delivery, solutions), allowing you to advise senior management on strategic
decisions requiring a solid fact base. The kind of strategic decisions and
strategic projects you will support are (non-exhaustive):
- Strategic transformation projects of Bpost NV/SA (e.g. Future Operational Model);
- Negotiations of long term contracts with the Belgian State and European Commission;
- Regulatory files concerning postal regulation and competition law ;
- Dialogue with our regulator on a broad variety of regulatory issues;
- Pricing decisions, specifically concerning negotiations with large clients or for new product offerings;
- Large investments based on complex business cases.
- Keep a global view on initiatives, policies, regulatory framework and projects that have an impact on the costing and profitability of Bpost
Who are you?
We are looking for an experienced professional combining analytical and strategic thinking with good communication skills. Specifically, the ideal candidate meets the below criteria:
- A Master’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Economics, Finance or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, experience in costing, consulting, economic modelling - or a related role - is a prerequisite.
- You are a strategic thinker with proven conceptual skills, combined with the analytical mindset to perform detailed analysis and modelling.
- Because you’ll undertake a leading role, strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial.
- You have the organizational ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent judgment and diplomacy skills in order to manage complex and strategic projects are key.
- Sound knowledge of English, Dutch and French.
