Tracking parcels? Here’s what Data Solutions Lead Inge actually does.

Turning data strategy into action

“In the past, all data was managed by the data department, but that wasn’t always efficient,” Inge explains. “Now we build tools so colleagues can search for and analyse relevant data themselves. There’s no ‘one solution fits all’ here. For each type of user, we look at which tool will work best, and we build and implement that. It’s great to see colleagues really use those tools. I don’t build the tools myself, but I make sure the teams who do can work smoothly.”

Work you see everywhere

Working for a major name like bpost makes an impact. Inge feels it too. “By making data available across different entities, not just for bpost but also for the other companies in the group, I realize how much we really do. Even outside Belgium,” she says.

That impact isn’t just something Inge feels from behind her desk. “You can’t go anywhere without seeing our work,” she says proudly. “Whether it’s a bbox, a Post Office or a mail carrier. That person might not realize we’re colleagues, but I do. I find it special to be so omnipresent as a company.”

Sparking innovation yourself

Inge has seen change throughout her 30 years at bpost. “But you can really feel things accelerating now. Especially in recent years, there’s been much more transparency and space for our own input. We face interesting challenges, and more than ever, we’re encouraged to come up with our own ideas.”

A great list of benefits

The interesting job content and broad impact are not the only perks of Inge’s job. “I’m certainly satisfied with my salary,” she confirms. “On top of that, I have great benefits like a cafeteria plan with a company car, hospitalization insurance, and a few days of homeworking each week.”
