Transport CoE Project Manager – Revenue Management (Cost to Serve)
What will you do?
To design, implement, and optimise revenue management processes and systems within the transport organisation, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, improved profitability, and alignment between commercial, transportation, pricing and financial data across all transport modes (road, air, first mile, and final mile).
Scope of the Role:
The Project Manager for Cost to Serve operates within the Transport CoE revenue management Capability Team, working cross-functionally with Finance, Commercial, Transport, Pricing. IT, and Data Management to ensure end-to-end visibility and control of transport revenue streams.
The role covers:
- Development and standardisation of revenue management frameworks, to enhance service offerings for clients.
- Integration of systems and data for accurate revenue capture,
- Implementation of performance metrics and continuous improvement initiative
Main Tasks:
1. Process Design & Implementation:
- Lead the end-to-end design of the revenue management process across transport functions to ensure timely and accurate revenue capture.
- Collaborate with Finance, Pricing, Performance management & Transport to align billing, accruals, and revenue recognition with accounting principles and internal policies.
- Define and document data flows between TMS (Transport Management System), ERP, and invoicing platforms to ensure financial accuracy and audit ability.
- Develop governance structures for revenue validation, exception handling, and adjustments.
- Identify and address revenue leakage risks through process audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Drive automation initiatives to improve data accuracy, reduce manual interventions, and enhance financial reporting.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Support KPI development related to revenue accuracy, recovery rate, and financial timeliness within the transport performance dashboard.
2. Key Deliverables:
– End-to-end Revenue Management Framework (process design, roles, and governance).
- System integration blueprint for accurate data flow between commercial, operational, and finance systems.
- Revenue leakage and correction process, with monitoring and reporting tools.
- Training and change management materials to support adoption across departments.
- KPI dashboard tracking revenue accuracy, recognition timeliness, and efficiency.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Transport & Network teams to ensure the invoicing process meets operational and customer needs.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to validate process designs, identify improvement opportunities, and manage change impacts.
- Serve as a central point of coordination between business users and technical teams during process roll-outs and system changes.
4. Success Measures:
- Reduction in revenue leakage and disputes.
- Improved accuracy and timeliness of revenue recognition.
- Increased transparency of revenue flows across transport and finance systems.
- Enhanced collaboration between operations, finance, and IT.
- Delivery of an automated and auditable revenue management process.
6. Change Management & Communication:
- Develop communication and training materials to help drive commercial revenue..
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure buy-in, clarity, and compliance with new ways of working;
Stakeholder management: identifying stakeholders and taking into account potential conflicts of interest.
- Report progress, risks, challenges and achievements to senior leadership and Executive Steering Committee.
7. Change management and realization of part of the Transport CoE strategic plan:
- Establishing synergies, cooperation between people from different departments and opposing interests
- Implementing changes
- Delivery and acceptance of the requested output of the project
Who are you?
- Masters Degree in Business Management or Supply Chain/Transportation equivalent
Required experience for the position:
- 5-10 years of relevant experience
Language skills:
- Fluent in English, Dutch and French an advantage.
Technical knowledge required to perform the function:
- Expert knowledge of project management (PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile methodologies a benefit)
- Proven experience in project management or process improvement within transportation, logistics, or supply chain industries.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end invoicing or billing processes and their interfaces with transport operations and finance.
- Demonstrated ability to map, design, and optimise complex cross-functional processes.
- Expert knowledge of Process Management/Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies an advantage).
- Proficiency in using and interpreting BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data systems integration.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills across different departments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to interpret data to identify process gaps.
Desirable:
- Experience in large-scale transformation or finance optimisation programs.
- Working knowledge of transport and logistics cost structures, tariffs, and service-level agreements.
