What will you do?

1.      Objective

The Cluster Head — Commercial Governance & Decision Management ensures that every commercial decision Bpost makes is taken at the right level, by the right person, with the right information — and that every commercial commitment is legally sound, financially governed and operationally executable.

The cluster is responsible for a disciplined governance model where decision rights are clear, contract standards are enforced and commercial projects are properly structured before they consume resources or create legal exposure.

The Cluster Head translates the CM&I mission — ensuring Bpost's revenue is predictable, profitable and scalable — into a world-class commercial governance function.. It is the mechanism that protects Bpost's commercial integrity and ensures that good commercial decisions are sustainable, not accidental.

2.      Main tasks

Contract Governance

Own Bpost's contract governance framework — approval workflows, delegation of authority, mandatory clause standards and the end-to-end process ensuring no contract reaches a customer without the required level of sign-off

Design and enforce the contract review gate in collaboration with Legal — ensuring penalty clauses are enforceable, approval levels are respected and no binding commitment is made before the CCO has reviewed contracts that require it

Lead the contract governance redesign with Legal — correcting the identified unenforceable clauses in existing contracts and establishing standard language that protects Bpost's commercial interests consistently

Own the contract management system in CRM — ensuring the governance workflow is enforced digitally and Sales cannot bypass required approvals, regardless of deal urgency or customer pressure

Develop the contract checking function from operational execution to governance design — moving from checking what was submitted to defining what must be submitted and enforcing that standard

Commercial Stage Gating

Own and operate the Commercial Stage Gating process — the structured quality gate through which all major commercial initiatives must pass before reaching ExCo members for decision

Ensure every stage gate session is well-prepared — decision packages are complete, financial analysis is present, risks are identified and ExCo members receive structured, decision-ready materials rather than raw proposals

Define and maintain the criteria that determine when a commercial initiative requires stage gating — covering size, complexity, cross-tribe impact

Ensure the stage gating process functions as a genuine quality gate — not a formality. Challenge incomplete business cases, missing financial analysis and unaddressed risks before they consume ExCo time or commit Bpost's resources

eSolutions Repositioning

Lead the repositioning of eSolutions from a technical support and helpdesk function to a commercial quality gate — ensuring digital commercial tools are implemented with the right configuration, governed consistently and adopted effectively across Sales and operations

Define eSolutions' role in the commercial deal lifecycle — when they are involved, what they validate, what their sign-off means commercially and what escalation path exists when quality standards are not met

Build the capability within eSolutions to assess commercial tool implementations against quality and compliance standards — not just technical functionality

Systematically reduce eSolutions escalations by building clear standards, decision rights and self-service guidance that allow the team to resolve issues at their level without requiring CM&I intervention

Business Support & 2nd Line

Lead the 2nd Line Support function — ensuring commercial teams across tribes, Sales and operations receive timely, accurate and consistent support on commercial operations, process and governance questions

Systematically reduce 2nd line escalation volume by identifying recurring issues and resolving them structurally — through process improvement, training, governance clarification or tool enhancement rather than case-by-case intervention

Build a knowledge management system for commercial governance standards — making clear, accessible guidance available to Sales and operational teams so they can resolve standard situations without needing 2nd line support

Team Leadership

Lead, coach and evaluate all members of the cluster across contract governance, stage gating, eSolutions and 2nd line support — building a coherent commercial governance function from what was previously a collection of separate execution teams

Build a high-performing cluster that identifies with its governance mission — not a support desk, not a compliance team, but the function that protects Bpost's commercial integrity and enables better commercial decisions

Recruit, develop and retain talent with strong process design, legal literacy, stakeholder management and commercial judgment skills

Set individual and team objectives aligned with CM&I priorities and hold the cluster accountable for measurable governance outcomes — contract compliance rates, stage gate quality scores, 2nd line resolution times

Cross-cluster coordination and stakeholder management

Act as the primary governance partner for the Bid Management & Commercial Management cluster — providing the contract standards and approval framework that governs deal commitments

Collaborate with Revenue Operations to ensure commercial governance requirements are enforced through CRM workflow — making governance structural rather than procedural

Support Legal in building the commercial governance framework — acting as the operational owner of standards that Legal defines

Present governance performance, contract compliance and stage gate outcomes to ExCo and the CCO in a clear, commercially focused format

Manage relationships with Legal, Compliance, Finance and Regulatory functions — ensuring commercial governance keeps pace with regulatory requirements and contractual best practice

Who are you?

  1. Education level: Master's degree in Business, Law, Economics or a related field.

  1. Required expertise for the function: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior commercial operations, governance, legal operations or compliance role in a complex commercial organisation. Experience in logistics, financial services, telco or a contract-intensive industry is a strong asset.

  1. Knowledge of languages (depending on the office): NL/FR/ENG

  1. Technical knowledge required to perform the function:

Governance and commercial expertise:

Deep expertise in commercial contract management, approval governance, delegation of authority frameworks and decision rights design

Proven ability to design and implement governance frameworks from scratch — not inherit and maintain existing ones

Understanding of Belgian contract law and commercial legal standards — sufficient to work effectively with Legal without being a lawyer personally

Process design and operational excellence:

Strong process design capability — able to map current state, identify governance gaps and design future state processes that are rigorous, workable and enforceable

Experience with CRM governance — enforcing workflow compliance, managing approval gates and ensuring process adherence across large sales organisations

Track record of repositioning a support or administrative function as a genuine governance capability — changing the team's identity, standards and stakeholder perception
