bpost’s Corporate Finance and M&A team, which is in charge of spearheading all strategic (dis)investments and bolt-on acquisitions for the group,  as well as advising group management and the board on broader corporate finance-related topics, is looking for an experienced Corporate Finance and M&A professional, reporting to the Director Corporate Finance and M&A with significant direct exposure to the Group CFO. In this capacity, you will have a material impact on decisions taken with regard to bpost’s future development, accompanying bpost in its transformational journey.

Your mission:

Corporate Finance

  • Providing strategic insights and financial analysis towards bpost’s senior management team to inform decision-making processes related to capital allocation, group financing, investment plans and overall business performance;
  • Oversee the development of financial models to support strategic initiatives and decision-making (e.g. impairment testing);
  • Assisting in financial planning efforts, including budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning;
  • Acting as a sparring partner to each of bpost’s business units on various corporate finance and cash-flow related topics;
    Supporting the CFO on ad-hoc corporate finance assignments.

M&A

  • You play a crucial role in driving end-to-end M&A transactions, managing all aspects of execution including initial opportunity identification and screening, coordinating due diligence, managing internal and external stakeholders, negotiating deal terms and reviewing transaction documentation;
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and modelling to assess financial performance and valuation of potential targets;
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure successful execution and integration of M&A transactions;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, including investment banks, advisors, and other stakeholders;
  • Preparing detailed internal investment/divestment proposals to be presented to formal governance bodies, such as the Group Executive Committee, Investment Committee and board meetings;
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the inorganic strategic investment strategy in close collaboration with senior leadership;
  • Active monitoring and reporting of industry news and trends.

Your profile:

We do not only deliver letters and parcels, but also opportunities. This job is open to all with diverse backgrounds and talents. You demonstrate a proven track record in M&A and corporate finance activities. You combine strong analytical and financial skills with strong strategic, communication and influencing skills. Experience in the logistics sector is a plus.

More particularly, the candidate should successfully demonstrate following experience & competences:

  • Excellent academic track record in Finance. MBA or CFA designation is considered as a plus;
  • 4-7 years of experience in M&A, investment banking and/or corporate finance;
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing M&A transactions, including deal sourcing, due diligence, and deal term structuring & negotiation;
  • Excellent analytical skills enabling you to rigorously deep dive into details while maintaining a helicopter view and an aptitude to convey conclusions in a comprehensible way;
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills;
  • Project management skills and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • You like to have impact: in this position you have a high exposure to senior management as well as other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders across the business is a key requirement;
  • Ability to challenge with respect and convince with fact-based arguments;
  • Team player, yet capable to work autonomously;
  • Experience in preparing and giving presentations to senior audiences, including the executive committee and board;
