Your mission:  
As Data ontologist, your mission is to design and maintain the semantic layer and information structures that enable seamless access to meaningful and trusted insights. You'll play a critical role in defining how information is organized, connected, and presented across domains, ensuring alignment with bpostgroup’s data-centric strategy. 

 
Key responsibilities include: 

  • Define and Maintain the Semantic Layer: Create and oversee an enterprise-wide semantic layer to unify data across systems, ensuring consistent terminology and understanding. 

  • Information Organization: Develop taxonomies, ontologies, and metadata structures to enable intuitive access to data and insights. 

  • Collaborate with Domains: Work closely with domain teams to ensure their information needs are met, and their data products align with enterprise standards. 

  • Bridge Business and Technology: Translate business requirements into actionable information structures, facilitating seamless integration with the technical data architecture. 

  • Support Data Cataloguing: Collaborate with the data governance team to maintain a comprehensive data catalogue, making it easy to discover, understand, and trust available data assets. 

  • Champion Usability: Ensure information is presented and organized in ways that are user-friendly for analysts, product teams, and business stakeholders. 

  • Enable Self-Service Insights: Provide the frameworks that empower teams to access and explore data independently while maintaining governance standards. 

  • Monitor and Improve: Regularly review and optimize the semantic and information layers to meet evolving business needs. 

As an Information Architect, you report to bpostgroup’s Data Lead. 


Your profile:  

We do not only deliver letters and parcels, but also opportunities. This job is open to all with diverse backgrounds and talents, possessing the following skills:  

 

  • Proven experience in information architecture, data modeling, or metadata management within complex organizations. 

  • Strong knowledge of semantic data modeling, taxonomies, ontologies, and metadata design. 

  • Familiarity with BI tools, data catalogs, and self-service analytics platforms 

  • Solid understanding of data governance principles and their application in managing information assets. 

  • Ability to translate business needs into structured and actionable information systems. 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration between business and IT. 

  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

  • Professional proficiency in English, and either French or Dutch.
