Head of Group Internal Communication

Context

As Head of Group Internal Communication, you lead internal communication projects at corporate level and implement corporate communication initiatives to the different entities, in order to contribute to the implementation of an optimal communication strategy.

Your Mission

In this evolving context, the Head of Group Internal Communication is leading, managing and developing all operational services within the Group Communication department. Developing, communicating and implementing a long-term vision and strategy for Group Communication (bpost group and all subs), guiding and stimulating them in the continuous improvement and innovation of services,  and processes and leading innovation projects within the department. Responsible for a team of 3 Internal Communication Experts.

Tasks and responsibilities

1. Leading, defining and developing cross-departments communication within bpost group:

  • Defining the annual objectives and priorities for corporate communication at group level, in consultation with the departments within the C&B department and the subs.
  • Creating involvement and commitment among all employees around these objectives, following up and communicating on their achievement and adjusting where necessary
  • Setting up change initiatives, in consultation with the managers of the various communication departments within the group, which are necessary to achieve the set objectives. Communicating with all employees about these changes and ensuring that they are involved and motivated to implement them.
  • Drawing up development plans for all internal communication employees, in consultation with the managers of the various communication departments within the group, to ensure that the predetermined objectives can be achieved.
  • Leadership Positioning: responsible for the CEO and GEC-communication on all the bpost group channels, translating the GEC strategy into a communication strategy, creating the right narrative in order to achieve a greater engagement towards bpost group

2. Developing, communicating and implementing a long-term vision and strategy for these communication services:

  • Developing a long-term vision and strategy for the communication services for the group, and elaborating this in a strategic plan in consultation with other managers of the communication department.
  • Supervising and following up the translation of that plan into concrete action plans and projects to realise the objectives.
  • Creating a support base among the team members  for the developed vision and obtaining their involvement in the development.

3. Introduce and implement sound process management in the C&B department in order to permanently increase the efficiency and quality of the service:

  • Introducing process management according to the standards of the Business Process Model commonly used at bpost in the C&B department
  • Supervise the drafting, management and updating of the process documentation by the Process & Operations Specialist.
  • Define, in consultation with the Director Communication & Brand and fellow managers of the department, effective and relevant KPIs and metrics for monitoring process efficiency and quality.

4. Supervise and encourage the team in the continuous improvement and innovation of services, and processes and lead large-scale innovation projects:

  • Stimulating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation among all team members
  • Leading innovation projects within the department, where appropriate in consultation with representatives of bpost's various business and service units, managing project managers (internal communication experts) and managing project budgets.

5. Innovation

  • Formulate proposals to improve channels, adapt to current organisational structure within group level, coordinate with the various subs (Be Unit, Eurasia & US)
  • Installing a good communication flow with the different subs and ensuring the flow of this information within the communication department

6. Pursuing an internal flow of communication and setting up support to the other communication units within bpost:

  • By maintaining regular contacts with other communication  teams within bpost group, seek efficiency gains and partnerships in the context of C&B department activities
  • To formulate proposals to organize similar activities in a more cost-efficient way for bpost, and to implement approved proposals.

7. Monitoring the correct use and follow-up of  the budget:

  • Follow-up on the use of the Internal Communication Division's current resources, ensuring that the available budgets are used efficiently and responsibly.
  •  Reporting to and consulting with the Director Group Communication & Brand on the it's budget and budget provisions for the following years.

Your Profile

In your role of Head of Group Internal Communication, you are clearly a strong communicator and a networker player who combines solid strategic thinking with leadership and project management skills. We highlight the following qualities:

  • Strong credibility to interact with senior stakeholders;
  • Solid expertise in managing internal corporate communications ;
  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Able to establish strong relationships with people from all levels of the organization;
  • Strong ability to understand the organization and transformation efforts and their impact on the business & people;
  • Capacity to translate the positioning, vision and goals of bpost group into actionable communication plans.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools & digital tools that can be leveraged for communication.
